Virtual Snowdonia Marathon - info for teams

You've got your place - now it's time to start fundraising!

Thank you for being a part of the first ever Virtual Snowdonia Marathon

Thanks again for getting involved in the VIRTUAL Snowdonia Marathon Eryri and for pledging to raise money as a team for your chosen cause, to make a difference for patients in North Wales.

We want your fundraising to be as fun and as stress-free as possible so have provided you with some fundraising guidance to help you get you started.

Did you know?

2020 is the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. Why not help celebrate by running in a nurse’s hat, or in full blown NHS themed fancy dress?

Alternatively, the timing of the event is during the week of Halloween – perhaps a bit of blood spatter or gruesome props and costumes are in order?

Your fundraising page and team page

First, set up your own page - follow these instructions:

  • Go to the campaign page
  • Click on the "Start Fundraising" button
  • Click "Doing your own thing" (there is no VIRTUAL Snowdonia Marathon Eryri category to select under "organised event")
  • Log in or Sign Up

Then, decide who in your team will continue to set up the team page

To set up a TEAM page so team members can link their pages, follow the instructions below or use the helpful guide on JustGiving

On your page, click the link called 'create a team':

  • Next, you can give your team a name i.e. TEAM DEWI WARD, YG or TEAM JONES
  • You'll be asked to confirm the charity you're raising money for and the event you’re participating in
  • Add a story behind your reason to fundraise together and add a cover photo - pages with photos and complete stories get significantly more donations than blank pages!
  • Set the team’s fundraising target - you can set targets for individual team members by using the drop down
  • Choose your team's web address and hit 'create a team'

When you're prompted to edit your story, you may want to use some of our suggested wording:

“Team Gwanwyn are running the VIRTUAL Snowdonia Marathon Eryri this year and, as well as doing this to keep fit and healthy, we’re fundraising to support Older People's Mental Health Service, an area that is close to our hearts. The money we raise will help to support patients and their families, over and above what the NHS can provide.

“Through its 400 different funds Awyr Las, the North Wales NHS Charity, makes a real difference in hospitals and in communities across North Wales.”

Adding more detail

You can edit your page to include photos and change personal details, targets and so on. If you click on your NAME in the top right and then YOUR FUNDRAISING, this will take you to your pages, where you can edit them accordingly.

Even if you raise money offline, you can add this to your running total and blog about the daily runs that have taken place or those you have planned.

Important: Please ensure you set up a fundraising page linked to the Awyr Las VIRTUAL Snowdonia Marathon Eryri campaign and not a "Crowdfunding" page. Crowdfunding pages are not linked to the charity which means you'll miss out on all that lovely Gift Aid!

Have you already set up your JustGiving page but not linked it to the campaign? No worries - just drop us a line with your page URL and we'll get it linked up in no time!

Fundraising Resources

  • If you think you'll get some donations offline, then you'll need a Sponsorship Form - you can download them below.
  • To take a look at our Fundraising Helper, a handy guide to help you on your fundraising journey, see below.
