Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd inspiring the future generations of radio presenters!

Hospital Radio Station of the Year Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd are working with Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern on inspiring the future generations of radio presenters.

The local hospital radio station in Bangor is known for its success stories for developing talent for the radio industry and is hoping to work with more schools on this initiative.

Kevin Williams, Chairman of Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd visited the secondary school in Bodedern to speak to a group of students about the radio industry and volunteering opportunities.

William Owen, a pupil at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern has been trained by Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd and is looking forward to present his own radio programme on Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd.

William said: “I’m very excited to start presenting my own programme on Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd. It’s been my dream to be a radio presenter. I’ve enjoyed my training sessions at the station and they’ve enabled me to develop my confidence with live presenting. My programme will include a variety of fun items and stories from my childhood”.

Paul Magee who teaches at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern had the idea of working with Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd on the project: “As a school we are extremely proud of William starting his radio presenting journey on Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd! We’d all like to wish him good luck and we’re looking forward to listening on Sunday!”

Kevin Williams, Chairman of Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd is delighted to be working with the secondary school “I think it’s fantastic that as a station we’re helping to develop new radio presenters by offering volunteering opportunities and professional industry training. William has progressed through our training and I can’t wait to listen to his programme on our station. If any other secondary schools would like to work with our station, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you”.

William Owen’s first programme on Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd will be broadcast on Sunday, 12th February at 12pm.
